Planning Permission granted for transformational Oxpens development that will bring new homes, jobs and public space alongside the River Thames to Oxford’s West End
Oxpens has now been granted planning permission with the issue of the formal decision notice by Oxford City Council. This follows the approval granted at planning committee in January.
The completion of this stage of the planning process gives the green light to new homes, jobs and riverside public space in the most significant urban regeneration project approved in the city for many years.
The formalities were completed on 1 July with the issue of the planning decision notice. This comes after members of the planning committee resolved to grant planning permission when they met on 21 January.
Welcoming the issuing of the formal decision notice, Kevin Minns, Managing Director of OXWED, said:
“This is tremendous news and completes a comprehensive, collaborative and painstaking planning process. The decision notice represents the culmination of a lot of hard work from a large number of people and stakeholders. Now we can turn our focus to delivery and we’re excited by that and the chance to bring in the very best partners to work with, in turn delivering an exemplary outcome for the city.”
OXWED will be providing further updates in due course on the next phase of turning the now-consented plans into reality and this will include submission of reserved matters applications to encompass the details of the public realm and buildings, framed by the outline planning permission. OXWED anticipates the phased completion of the scheme over the next 5 to 10 years.
